JAMES MORRISON has directed, written, and produced three award-winning short films, a feature-length documentary called Showing Up: A Conversation About the Audition (co-directed and produced by his wife, Riad Galayini and available to stream at www.showingupmovie.com) and has had his plays developed and produced by Sundance Institute, the Ojai Playwrights Conference, Philadelphia Fringe Festival, The Road Theatre, Whidbey Island Center for the Arts, and Ensemble Studio Theatre among many others.

As an actor, he served his apprenticeship with the Alaska Repertory Theatre and has appeared at the La Jolla Playhouse, the Mark Taper Forum, Princeton's McCarter Theatre, the Pasadena Playhouse, the Salt Lake Acting Company, The Old Globe, L.A. Theatre Works, the Edinburgh Festival (Fringe First Award), and on London's West End at the Donmar Warehouse.

James has been nominated for a SAG Award (best ensemble, 24) and received the Los Angeles Drama Critics' Circle Award and three Drama-Logue Awards for performance. Some of his film appearances include The Jazz Funeral, Catch Me If You Can, and Jarhead. On television, in addition to 4 seasons on the Emmy-winning 24 as Bill Buchanan, he was a series regular on Those Who Kill and the cult sci-fi series Space: Above and Beyond. James has had recurring roles on Twin Peaks: The Return as Warden Murphy, Law and Order: SVU, Private Practice, Revenge, Hawthorne, and Major Crimes, and has made countless guest star appearances.
